Joan Freeman began her unique study of 210 children more than quarter of a century ago, comparing the recognised gifted and the unrecognised gifted with their classmates. This book describes what has happened to them and their families as they have grown up in very different circumstances, in poverty or wealth, through many types of schooling and life opportunities. The young people often describe in their own words how it has been for them, and the author's interpretations are fascinating.
