The National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) has been a registered charity for 25 years and, this year, became a company limited by guarantee. Its aims are to support schools and Local Authorities in improving provision for able, gifted and talented children. Whilst NACE works alongside government agencies, it is an independent and self-funding organisation with an annual turnover of approximately £0.5 million. NACE’s work, initially in England, has now extended to other parts of the United Kingdom.
As a result of this change in circumstances, NACE is seeking a Finance Trustee to join the Board. This is a voluntary role requiring a commitment to attend four Board meetings per year – these take place during the day in either Oxford or London – plus meetings with auditors, the finance administrator and CEO. The Finance Trustee would be involved in strategic planning and the analysis of the company’s finances.
Person Specification
- a commitment to the work of the organisation;
- financial qualifications including an understanding of maintaining records and procedures;
- experience of the legal financial requirements associated with charities and small companies would be an advantage;
- an ability to think creatively;
- a willingness to be available to staff and Trustees for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.
