Gifts, talents and living your values as a passionate educator
An Audience with Jack Whitehead and
Marie Huxtable
Jack and Marie’s work has inspired many teachers
and pupils who are working together to find life-long
ways to express, contribute and develop their gifts
and talents. Participants will gain an insight into a
way of living their values more fully in
their
educational relationships with their pupils.
Jack Whitehead originated the idea of living educational theories as the explanations that individuals produce to explain their educational influences in their own learning, in the learning of others and in the social formations in
which we live and work.
Marie Huxtable originated the idea of an inclusional approach to gifts and
talents in education, in which individuals express and develop their talents
in the production of gifts as they generate their own living educational
theories of their educational influences with pupils and students. The explanations which individuals generate in accounting for their lives
in terms of their talents and gifts will be shown to include the
expression of a life-affirming energy with the values they use
to give meaning and purpose to their lives.
Dr. Jack Whitehead is an educational researcher at the University of Bath and a Visiting Professor at Ningxia Teachers University in China. He is a former President of the British Educational Research Association and a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Westminster College Utah.
Marie Huxtable develops and co-ordinates the inclusive gifted and talented education in a local authority.
