An audience with...
Sir Michael Tomlinson, Patron of NACE, on the state of scholarships in schools today - 'Whither Scholarship in our Schools?'

NACE conferences

This presentation seeks to ask if scholarship is alive and well in our schools or not. The hypothesis is that it is not as well as we need it to be, and Mike will explore why this is so and what can be done to improve the situation.

Mike Tomlinson was a chemistry teacher before joining HM Inspectorate, where he rose to become Chief Inspector in 2000, retiring in 2002. He Chairs The Learning Trust, responsible for education in Hackney, Chaired the Government’s review group on 14-19 reform and in 2005 received a knighthood for services to education.

As first a pupil then colleague of Tom Marjoram his interest in giftedness and scholarship was unavoidable given such a mentor!
