NACE - DWS Facilitator training
NACE, in partnership with DWS Partnership, has opportunities for paid work; working as a trained facilitator with groups of schools in your area who wish to set up Day a Week School for teaching exceptionally able pupils.

Since its inception last year, Day a Week School, provided by NACE and DWS in partnership, is being rapidly taken up by schools nationwide. It provides a weekly teaching and learning programme for the top 2% of the ability range in Key Stage 2. The pupils attend a continuous weekly full day class along with other children from their partnership of schools. Day a Week School has been successfully piloted in Cheshire and was presented at a workshop at the DfES national conference.

More Trained Facilitators are needed
The creators of Day a Week School, Carol Cummings and Aileen Hoare, will support partnerships of schools to set up this programme. This support includes introduction & planning meetings, identification of appropriate pupils, selection of and support for teachers. More trained facilitators are needed to undertake this work on behalf of DWS. This amounts to approximately 12 days' work for each partnership of 10 schools in the set-up year.

The work involves leading meetings with groups of headteachers, DWS teachers and parents, recruiting DWS seconded teachers, working through the identification procedures with schools, leading challenge workshops with children, supporting lead headteachers with practicalities in the set up year and monitoring and supporting DWS teachers.

Facilitator Training is in three parts:

Part 1: Some pre-course tasks, followed by a one-day training which will enable you to support the setting up and maintenance of a Day a Week School

Part 2: Shadowing Carol Cummings and Aileen Hoare through a complete set up and support process for a Day a Week School class

Part 3: Acting as lead facilitator with the support of Carol Cummings and Aileen Hoare in the setting up and support process for a new Day a Week School class.
N.B. Parts 1-3: Will form continuous assessment of suitability for the role.

Part 1: Early 2008
Venue: London (TBC)

Parts 2 & 3 will follow as class set-ups become available.
