NACE Assessment Audit© https://www.nace.co.uk/store/viewproduct.aspx?id=18097410 https://www.nace.co.uk/store/viewproduct.aspx?id=18097410 NACE Assessment Audit©

The NACE Assessment Audit© provides a quality framework to support schools’ evaluation of assessment aims, practices, and the extent to which there is consistent whole-school implementation with a resulting positive impact on pupils’ learning and achievement.

It complements the NACE Curriculum Audit© and is aligned with the requirements of Ofsted, National Professional Qualifications and the Early Career Framework, providing a comprehensive quality framework for school leaders to review their assessment aims, implementation and the impact on pupils' learning and achievement, with an additional focus on the impact of assessment of more able learners.

The audit document is organised into four parts: intent (aims and principles), implementation (whole school/departmental level), implementation (classroom level) and impact. Each section provides statements against which to audit current policy and practice on a 1-5 scale. In secondary schools, the assessment audit could also be completed by heads of department to gain a subject-level perspective. For each key statement, suggested sources of evidence are provided, along with key questions for more able provision. These can be used to support the formation of evaluation judgements, and findings in each case can be used to form an assessment action plan and inform revision of the school assessment, marking and feedback policies.

The audit is available in English or Welsh language editions.

Costs:

  • £150 +VAT (members) - please log in before purchasing to access the members' rate.

NACE Curriculum Audit© https://www.nace.co.uk/store/viewproduct.aspx?id=18213960 https://www.nace.co.uk/store/viewproduct.aspx?id=18213960 NACE Curriculum Audit©A comprehensive tool to support curriculum review at whole-school or departmental level, with a focus on high-quality provision for more able learners and challenge for all.

The current focus on curriculum provides an opportunity for schools to test out their curriculum plans, asking whether plans are ambitious enough and whether they deliver the intended impact on learners. Key to this is considering whether the most able learners are reaching their full potential through the curriculum delivery. We know that if the needs of this group are being met, there will be a strong foundation for providing a good level of challenge for all learners.

The NACE Curriculum Audit© provides schools with:
  • A clear structure for curriculum review;
  • A framework of questions to review the intent, implementation and impact of the curriculum;
  • Suggested evidence to support review judgements;
  • An additional focus on reviewing how well the curriculum meets the needs of the most able learners.

Categorised under the three areas of intent, implementation and impact, the tool provides key curriculum statements, along with suggested evidence and questions to help leaders evaluate current performance against each statement on a 1-5 measure.

The audit statements are matched with the key curriculum aspects which Ofsted will consider in inspection.

A Welsh version has also been created. Written to enhance schools’ self-evaluation processes, it can be used with the current statutory curriculum 2008 and in preparation for implementation of the new Curriculum for Wales. This is available in English and Welsh medium.

To learn more about the NACE Curriculum Audit© and how it could support your school, click here or contact us.

Costs

  • NACE members: The NACE Curriculum Audit document is available free of charge for NACE member schools. It can be downloaded here (login required).
  • Non-members: Schools which are not NACE members can purchase the Curriculum Audit document for £250 +VAT. To find out more about NACE membership (starting from just £105 +VAT per year and covering all staff in your school), click here.

Additional support is available through a half-day consultancy (£600 +VAT) to help facilitate the audit discussion. Read more.

Building on NACE’s research into cognitively challenging learning environments, these on-demand courses explore key aspects of cognitively challenging teaching and learning. Some modules are more relevant for senior leaders and others leading on challenge and high achievement in schools, while others are suitable for all – supporting a shared approach to cognitively challenging teaching and learning. Each is designed to be relevant across the primary and secondary phases, with the exception of module 7, which is available in two phase-specific versions.

Leading on policy and provision for more able learners - recorded webinar https://www.nace.co.uk/store/viewproduct.aspx?id=18071475 https://www.nace.co.uk/store/viewproduct.aspx?id=18071475 Leading on policy and provision for more able learners - recorded webinar

This on-demand CPD session provides a valuable overview for those leading on policy and provision for more able learners. Whether you are new to the role or want a refresher, the session offers useful steps and recommendations to help you engage colleagues and develop an effective whole-school approach for more able learners, grounded in research and evidence and within a culture of challenge for all.

The session is led by Christabel Shepherd, a highly respected school leader, NACE Curriculum Development Director and Vice-Chair of Trustees. It lasts approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, and covers the following areas:

  • The role of the more able lead: key elements and responsibilities
  • Developing a whole-school vision and policy for more able learners
  • Why focus on more able learners? - sharing the "why" and addressing misconceptions
  • Developing effective provision for more able learners - including identification, pedagogy, curriculum, tracking and parent/pupil voice
  • How a focus on more able learners can drive whole-school improvement
  • Q&A: answers to common questions and challenges for those leading on more able

The session is shared as an MP4 file which can be downloaded and used to support staff training as part of INSET, twilight, departmental and whole-school CPD, as well as induction training for new staff members.

Feedback from live session attendees:

“A really thoughtful and practical guide to help staff responsible for more able provision across a department or school.”

“Gave me many new ideas to think about and explained MA policy as integral to a whole culture within the school and not a bolt-on.”

“Having been away on maternity leave, this is a great refresher of the key priorities in re-establishing quality provision for the most able and all learners.”

“Clear structure and delivery, excellent presenter, good signposting to further resources.”

“Absolutely brilliant. After the session I felt enthusiastic and inspired to lead our school's more able provision.”

“This was a fantastic webinar. It helped me to see exactly what I should be doing as part of my role.”

“Really thorough, extremely useful advice for me, as someone who has recently come into the post. I have lots of ideas now and know where to go for resources.”

“As a senior leader, not the lead for MA, having these pointers has given me a indication of how to support the staff that I mentor, ITT and NQT staff. I lead in policy development and the slides about policy will help me in support the MA lead in review our current policy.”

“A very important agenda with the children's rights and entitlement at the heart. This will change the outcomes for pupils and will support the future for children, this is needed now more than ever.”

“A good mix of a theoretical background and practical, hands-on tips, which allow you to think in the here and now about your own context and how these ideals – and then ideas – can be applied.”

Cost: £100 +VAT (members) / £150 +VAT (non-members

Aligned to the professional standards for teaching assistants, these modules cover all aspects of working with more able learners, including identification, task design, feedback, developing independence and effective questioning.

They are designed to develop an understanding of what high-quality challenge looks like, with practical examples of how this can be applied in the classroom.

The modules are suitable for teaching assistants working across all settings and phases. They can be used to complement your school’s CPD programme, adapted to whole-school or individual priorities and timeframes, and can be completed either individually or in a group.

Accessed via online learning platform Nucleus Learning, each module comprises a series of recorded presentations – approx. 20-30 minutes per course, broken down into bitesize chunks – accompanied by questions for reflection and additional resources to help participants embed key takeaways, develop action points, and apply the course content within their own context. While each purchase provides a single login, the course content can be displayed on a shared screen to support group CPD.
