Rethinking assessment
Our "Rethinking Assessment" publication outlines the importance of carefully planned assessment models which reflect school ethos. Feeding into this report, school leaders have shared strategies for the development, organisation and design of assessment systems within a cognitively challenging learning environment. Classroom practitioners have shared examples of effective management of assessment practice to enhance the learning experience for their young people. We explore the key role of oracy in teaching and assessing, allowing the understanding of learning to be shared between the teacher and the pupils. We build a shared understanding of the purpose of assessment and its potential to enhance learning.
