The uncertainties and changing contexts of the past two years have challenged schools to rethink their approaches to assessment, to ensure learners’ progress is supported and achievements recognised. For many, this presents a broader opportunity to rethink assessment for the future, recognising that effective assessment goes far beyond exam grades – as a key component of cognitively challenging learning. Hosted by Oxford University’s New College, this free event will bring together NACE members from all phases to “rethink assessment” – sharing what’s working, what’s not, and ideas for the future. Attendees will also have the chance to pose questions to Oxford tutors, who will share their own insights into effective assessment and the skills students need for success at a leading university. The day will close with an overview of Oxford access initiatives, and a tour of the historic college grounds. Programme
