With a renewed national focus on early development and “school readiness”, this one-day course is designed to support practitioners and leaders in understanding what this all means in practice, focusing on effective transitions

Do we need to get children ready for school? Or, are we ready to receive them? This course will explore transitions into and out of the EYFS (home to nursery, nursery to reception, reception to Year 1), with a focus on ensuring transitions are handled in a collaborative, sensitive, supportive and developmentally appropriate way, with high ambitions for all at the heart. It will share case studies and examples of best practice.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  •
      • Understand the importance and impact of transitions on young children’s development and emotional wellbeing;
      • Implement strategies that support smooth, collaborative and positive transitions;
      • Communicate effectively with parents and carers during transitional periods;
      • Create transition-friendly environments and routines

There will also be opportunities throughout the day for you to share current priorities or concerns in relation to the role, and to plan your next steps in leading this important agenda.

If travel is a barrier to attendance, please contact cpd@nace.co.uk to arrange remote access.
