Free webinar: open to all schools Developing high-quality challenge in English 3.45 – 4.45pm, Tuesday 17 March What does “challenge” look like in English lessons? It can be all too easy to fall back on extension tasks which create the comforting illusion of challenge, while failing to offer the intellectual stretch and rigour that truly cultivate high attainment. In this free live webinar, open to all schools, we’ll explore strategies to embed genuine challenge into your English curriculum and pedagogy.
Led by Anthony Cockerill, Director of the National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE), the session will explore key ingredients for challenge in English, including: - Access to ambitious and complex texts, language and concepts;
- Opportunities to build deep disciplinary knowledge;
- Open-ended, creative and evaluative tasks;
- Supporting the development of independence, originality and nuance;
- Effective feedback, questioning, dialogue and modelling.
This session is free and open to all schools. Register now – and please share the details with colleagues within or beyond your department/school who may also benefit.
