From (white) paper to practice
We hope you’ve had a good Easter break! We’ve taken the time to reflect on recent developments, including the schools white paper published last term. You can read our reflections here, including the low-cost, high-impact approaches we believe will make the vision of the paper a reality – creating the conditions in which every child can “achieve and thrive”.
Those recommendations are based on the latest phase of our research, exploring how schools can remove barriers to opportunity and achievement. We’re looking forward to bringing this off the page and into more schools through a new “mini-conference” event on 23 June. Co-led by Andy Griffith and Christabel Shepherd – both highly experienced in supporting schools to bring about meaningful change for young people who encounter disadvantage – this promises to be an inspiring, practical, evidenced-based and impact-focused day. Book your place here.

Everyone’s talking about…
Intrinsic motivation is a hot topic this month – ahead of our summer term member meetup on this theme. We’re also looking at challenge in primary physics, with a webinar on this topic next week. Plus: whole-school approaches to more able provision, developing reading for pleasure, and strong partnerships with parents.

We’re delighted to share that the NACE Challenge Framework, which sits at the heart of the NACE Challenge Development Programme, will be available in a fully online version from 27 April. Designed to support whole-school improvement with a lens on more able and challenge provision, the Framework is well-established, highly respected, and can lead to NACE Challenge Award accreditation. All of this remains the same – but you can now access the Framework through a user-friendly online platform; be guided through each element with supporting resources at each stage; and easily upload your evidence in a range of formats.
Whether you’re already using the Framework or getting ready to start out – you can learn more here, and book a free one-to-one session to discuss your next steps.
