This content is usually delivered as either a half-day or full-day CPD for school staff,
but can also be delivered over the course of two or three twilight sessions.
We can also develop a bespoke CPD programme based on the priorities and context of your school(s) – adapting the sessions outlined above to focus on specific areas of provision, such as questioning, independent learning, metacognition, or oracy and
discourse.
Our CPD for schools is delivered by our team of skilled NACE Associates, who have expertise across all phases and a diverse range of contexts. Whether delivered in-school
or online, it is highly interactive, practical in focus, and tailored based on audience size, needs and level of experience. It can be delivered for your entire leadership and teaching team, More Able Leaders, middle leaders and heads of department,
or classroom teachers.
Our training for schools aligns with the DfE Standard for Teachers’ Professional Development. We ensure our CPD programmes are grounded in relevant curriculum and policy developments, school case studies and current research – including our work in
the field of cognitive challenge. You can read more in our CPD code of conduct.
Alongside CPD, we also offer consultancy and coaching and mentoring services.
Selecting dates
Term-start and term-end dates are always the most popular for inset training, so we encourage schools to book as far ahead as possible. Many schools book six months in advance.
“We liked the focus on 'scaffolding up', making sure that you never put a ceiling on what can be achieved by any child. Very useful and well-presented. Lots of good ideas were shared but also reminders about what we already do. A great opportunity for us to hold professional discussions with our colleagues and opportunities to share what worked well and what we might like to try.”
– feedback from NACE CPD for Cognita Schools, March 2025
“Tracy [our NACE trainer] really reinvigorated staff, encouraging us to question and rethink how we interact with students, our objectives and our methods. There were more than enough examples of strategies, and there was time to demonstrate some of them. It was comprehensive, applying well to all faculties, and started many conversations about learning in many different areas of the school. Tracy ensured her guidance was relevant by consulting me, being sensitive to our context and reading our Ofsted report. One teacher commented she had waited seven years for such a quality speaker. In summary, a truly inspiring session.”
