Our consultancy, coaching and mentoring services are designed to support schools in improving provision for more able learners,
within a whole-school context of high aspirations and high-quality challenge for all.
How could we support your school or cluster?
Each programme of support is bespoke to your school or group of schools. It could be used to support your overall approach to whole-school improvement with a focus on the more able and challenge for all, or it could support a specific
area of development – such as oracy skills, metacognition, independent learning, or another identified area.
Support for senior leaders
At this level, NACE will support you to look strategically at the place of policy and practice for the more able within your wider school improvement plan. Support could involve reviewing department development plans, auditing curriculum
or helping to look objectively at evaluation procedures.
Support for more able leads/coordinators
A NACE consultant/mentor can support you in developing your knowledge and expertise in leading on more able, as well as developing transferrable leadership skills, including how you would deliver training, work with colleagues and
report on impact. S/he can support you to ensure that your more able policy is embedded into wider school improvement.
Support for curriculum leaders
If your school is undertaking a curriculum review, a NACE consultant can support the audit and development process. If your school is focusing on embedding challenge in lessons, the consultant will work with subject leads to review
practice and advise on strategies that will raise aspirations and stretch learners.
“[Our NACE mentor] has so much professional knowledge to impart and offers it in an accessible way that suits my individual post and is tailor-made to the school.”
Debbie Carrick, More Able Coordinator, Ewell Castle School
“We entered the session slightly sceptical but positive and within four hours, we knew exactly what we needed to do to take more able and talented forward in our school.”
Ann Roberts, Assistant Headteacher, Pennaeth Cynorthwyol
Our approach
NACE’s approach to consultancy, coaching and mentoring for schools is contextualised, taking account of the authentic reality of the school setting and the starting point of the individual receiving the support. It is based on research
and extensive experience of effective practice.
Your allocated NACE Associate will take time to work with you to establish the objectives, milestones and desired outcomes of the programme. They will use their expertise to challenge, support and reassure, encouraging you to consider
new ideas to developing practice and ultimately helping you to reach solutions in collaboration with others, developing the wider mentoring and coaching culture in your school. In this way challenge is balanced with support that
leads to both improvement and capacity building.
Who delivers our consultancy, coaching and mentoring services?
Our support services are provided by NACE’s senior team and our network of NACE Associates – all highly experienced educators
and specialists. When you submit an enquiry, we will contact you to discuss your school/organisation’s current context and needs, and match you to a NACE representative with the relevant expertise.
