How to develop news literacy in schools
Tuesday 27 February 2024
4.00pm – 5.00pm | Open to all schools
This free live webinar is presented in partnership with The Day – host of the Global Young Journalist Awards, which NACE is proud to support. The Day turns the news into lessons, to help schools engage young people with current affairs while developing key skills and knowledge for the future – including critical thinking, independent research, digital literacy, global awareness and oracy.
Presented by The Day’s Matt Bosica, alongside expert panelists, this session will focus on sharing practical examples of how schools can develop news literacy and related skills, across a range of phases and curriculum areas.

The Day
The Day is a daily digital newspaper for schools which focuses on the big global issues beneath the headlines. The Day team believe the right question matters more than the right answer.
The Day offers resources for all levels from key stages one to five. Its dedicated newsroom writes news, features, polls, quizzes, translations and activities to bring the wider world into the classroom. Through the news, The Day helps children and teachers develop the thinking, speaking and writing skills to build a better world. You can use The Day in lessons, form time, or assemblies across the whole school.
You can book a free trial here, and NACE members get a great discount on new annual subscriptions – find out more here (login required).
