NACE Making Space phase 2

RESOURCE UPDATE

Making Space for Able Learners

NACE is committed to investing in developing and disseminating education research to support evidence-informed teaching and learning, with a focus on effective provision for more able learners and increasing challenge for all learners.

We have been exploring two key strands in greater depth for the second phase of our ‘Making Space for Able Learners’ project. The first of these is focused on effective approaches to assessment in cognitively challenging classrooms, and the second builds upon the importance of oracy for high achievement.

These resources will be launched in the new calendar year and will be available free for members via our website. They will also be made available for sale to non-members alongside our existing publication.

NACE Challenge

Exclusively available to NACE member schools, the NACE Challenge Framework is an established tool for whole-school review and improvement in provision for more able learners, offered as part of the NACE Challenge Development Programme. It is based on six key elements, each providing detailed criteria for high-quality provision for the more able, within a whole-school ethos of challenge for all.

Schools working through the programme can apply for Challenge Award school accreditation – external validation of high-quality provision for more able learners, however wherever you are on your journey, the NACE Challenge Framework is an invaluable tool to work with.

Over a third of our members have access to the Framework. If you’d like to find out more click here or book a support call.

“The NACE Challenge Framework has allowed us to
self-evaluate our provision and incorporate tailored
and bespoke Continued Professional Learning
opportunities to allow our provision to grow, year on year.

Partner profile: Brilliant Club
The Brilliant Club

The Brilliant Club works with the PhD community to support less advantaged students to access the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there.

This year, thousands of students will participate in the Scholars Programme, where they will study an inspiring supra-curricular topic through university-style tutorials delivered by a PhD tutor and work towards a university-style final assignment, for which they receive feedback from their tutor. They will also celebrate their achievements at the conclusion of the programme at a university Graduation Event.

The programme is in full swing for our Autumn and Spring schools and colleges, but there is still time to sign up for the Summer programme. Enquire today so your students can join the 12,500 students who are already signed up.

The Brilliant Club also runs a programme for Y13s who are applying to university this academic year, Join the Dots. Students will take part in a series of university preparation activities, delivered through in-school resources and by The Brilliant Club. On results day, students are matched with a PhD coach from their university who will be their mentor for their first six months at university. Enquire today ready for the programme to start later this academic year.
